St. Peter’s Hospital - Hamilton, ON

Our second installation site happened at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. This hospital is under the Hamilton Health Sciences umbrella and is affiliated with the GERAS Centre for Aging Research and McMaster University. Four inpatient programs are housed at the hospital: palliative care, restorative rehabilitation, complex medical, and behavioural programs. The hospital caters to an older population, but all programs serve adults of all ages. While the hospital has no emergency department that is open to the public, we still wanted to thank the frontline workers who work in various hospital environments across the country.

It is one thing to get the first installation in the ground, now we as One Bench One Tree were committing to keeping our goal of installing 10 sites in our inaugural year of 2021. Some of our installations took place in the summer, where as students, we are dispersed in the world, working at various summer jobs. Partnering with local contractors to help install help us keep on track with our goal, provides a unique networking opportunity between landscape contractors and us.

Beyond the continued support from out partners, this project in particular was made possible by the contribution of Cedar Springs Landscaping who offered a hand with the installation of the bench and the planting of the tree! We continue to support our Canadian suppliers and partners in this initiative.

The installation of One Bench One Tree at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, ON was completed on July 9, 2021. A ceremony to give thanks to the hospital’s Frontline-Heroes is planned to take place at a later date.
