The Ottawa Hospital: General Campus - Ottawa, ON
As our nation’s capital, we wanted to have an installation in Ottawa within our first year. The Ottawa General Hospital is one of three hospital sites associated with The Ottawa Hospital network. The other two sites are the Civic Campus and the Riverside Hospital of Ottawa. The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is also affiliated with the Ottawa Hospital. The Ottawa Hospital also provides services in both Official Languages: English and French.
The General Hospital site includes the Ottawa Rehabilitation Centre and the Ottawa Cancer Centre, as well as the Blood Disease Centre. The Ottawa Hospitals are affiliated with the University of Ottawa and are public, teaching hospitals. The General Campus also has acute-care facilities and an emergency department open to the public, 24/7. There is a University of Ottawa facility on site, as well as shared helipad privileges with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), another site installation of 1 Bench 1 Tree.
Caltrio generously offered to install this site free of charge, and financial contributions totalling $3,000 were made by Wild Ridge Landscapes and Vandenberg & Wildeboer Architects. The bench and tree were placed in separate locations due to logistics, however the bench was placed two metres to face another tree to keep in-line with 1 Bench 1 Tree design standards. The installation was completed on October 12, 2021 with a dedication ceremony at a future date.
Thank you, Frontline-Heroes of Ottawa for your tireless efforts throughout the pandemic. Your service is appreciated and not forgotten!
