Guelph General Hospital - Guelph, ON
As Masters students at the University of Guelph, it was important for us to have a 1 Bench 1 Tree installation at our “home” city. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, not all of us relocated to Guelph for school due to online alternative delivery methods, but Guelph has brought our group together. Guelph South Rotary Club financially donated $3000 and sponsored this installation, and we are proud to bring 1 Bench 1 Tree to Guelph General Hospital. LP Landscaping donated their labour for the installation, with the help of some 1 Bench 1 Tree representatives.
The hospital first opened its doors on August 16, 1875 and had 12 beds, a small infectious room and a dispensary. The hospital was run by a superintendent and two nurses when it first opened and also featured a kitchen, housekeeping, switchboard, and laundry facilities. It as grown since the 19th century and now provides comprehensive, acute care in a dynamic facility that provides a full range of services to the City of Guelph, and Wellington County, a population of over 200,000 residents. The hospital also serves an active student population at the University of Guelph.
The installation for the Guelph General Hospital was completed on October 22, 2021 with LP Landscaping and 1 Bench 1 Tree. Our partners (Maglin, Unilock, Maple Leaves Forever) continued to provide supplies for this project. On November 2, 2021, there was a dedication ceremony with representatives from 1 Bench 1 Tree, Guelph General Hospital, and Guelph South Rotary Club.
Thank you, Frontline-Heroes of Guelph for your tireless efforts throughout the pandemic. Your service is appreciated and not forgotten!
