Bluewater Health - Sarnia, ON

Our tenth site of 2021 was at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, Ontario. Bluewater Health is Sarnia-Lambton’s largest public-sector employer of nearly 2,500 staff. The emergency department sees over 86,000 patients each year and is open to the public 24/7. The hospital provides Indigenous Health Services and Rural Health Services, as well as typical hospital services including: Cancer Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Maternal Care, Palliative Care, Rehabilitation, and Surgeries. Mental Health and Addiction Services and Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centre are also provided at Bluewater Health.

We are very thankful for the continued support we received from our partners and suppliers over our first year. We appreciate and recognize DeGroot’s Nurseries, who donated their labour for this installation. The 1 Bench 1 Tree was installed on November 17, 2021 and a dedication ceremony may be planned at a later date.

In 2021, 1 Bench 1 Tree set out to install 10 benches and trees across hospitals in Ontario. It took time to get organized and have our first installation at Sunnybrook Hospital: Bayview Campus, then installations continued throughout the summer and into the fall. We were determined to get all 10 installed, before the ground froze for the winter, and we accomplished our goals. We look forward to the hospital and contractor partners we make it 2022, as well as continuing our partnerships with our suppliers and associations.
